Mohs Surgery

Mohs Surgery

At Johns Creek Dermatology, we are a complete practice, treating both adult and pediatric patients, offering cutting edge surgical treatment options in office.

Incorporating surgical procedures into our daily practice allows us to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. Mohs surgery, a technique for removing skin cancers, and the most recent and exciting addition to our practice, is the optimal treatment for many basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas, including those in cosmetically and functionally important areas around the eyes, face, scalp, fingers, etc. Mohs is also recommended for carcinomas that are large, aggressive or growing rapidly or have recurred after previous treatment.

The procedure is done in stages, all in one visit, while the patient waits between each stage. After removing a layer of tissue, the surgeon examines it under a microscope in an on-site lab. If any cancer cells remain, the surgeon knows the exact area where they are and removes another layer of tissue from that precise location, while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible. The doctor repeats this process until no cancer cells remain.

Dr. Shereen Timani is committed to providing exemplary care for her patients, incorporating her double Board Certifications & 17 years of expertise in Dermatology and Dermatopathology, and is excited to offer the gold standard in treatment for skin cancer.
