Don’t Look Mad: Get Xeomin®

Xeomin® after lookYouthful skin is smooth and soft. Aging, exposure to the sun, and poor skin care can take a toll on your complexion.  There are a number of injectable products on the market to give you a younger, more rested appearance.  If you want to know more, make an appointment for a consultation with Shereen Timani, M.D. at Johns Creek Dermatology in Johns Creek, GA.  Dr. Timani might suggest Xeomin® to calm your wrinkles and folds.

What is Xeomin®?

Johns Creek Dermatology is pleased to introduce Xeomin® or incobotulinumtoxinA, to their cosmetic dermatology options. FDA approved Xeomin® is a botulinum toxin type A product similar to Botox Cosmetic® and Dysport® in that it treats lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows, or glabellar lines. The treatment is temporary and can last 3-6 months. Xeomin® paralyzes wrinkles like other drugs in the wrinkle-inhibitor category by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, resulting in an inability of the targeted muscles to contract. As a result, the parallel lines between the eyebrows and furrows on the forehead relax and the skin looks smooth.

The Xeomin® Difference

The primary difference between Xeomin® and the alternative wrinkle inhibitors Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® is that there are no additives in its formulation.  This distinction may lessen the potential for a  patient to develop antibodies to the product. Its effects are more similar to Botox® Cosmetic than Dysport®, as the muscle relaxation results of the injections are not immediately noticeable. Typically the full effects are visible within one week. Treatment results last from three to six months.

Dr. Timani is highly skilled in injection techniques to achieve the muscle relaxation results you desire from Xeomin®. Like other botulinum products, general side effects associated with these injections may include: bleeding and bruising at the injection site; and allergic reactions such as itching, swelling or shortness of breath.

Each patient is unique; therefore, results may vary.
