TCA Obagi Blue Peel

The TCA Obagi Blue Peel®: A Beneficial Treatment

Daily skincare routines are not enough to keep your skin looking its best. The TCA Obagi Blue Peel brightens the complexion and kicks your skin-management plan up a notch. An Obagi chemical peel can help transform and rejuvenate the skin.  It is often used to treat blemishes, facial lines, scars, uneven pigmentation, and acne. The Blue Peel uses a slow acting TCA chemical, trichloracetic acid – relative to vinegar, that enables Shereen Timani, M.D. at Johns Creek Dermatology to control the peel process and depth, removing layers of aged and damaged skin to promote the creation of healthy skin. The process smooths the surface of your skin, improves skin tone and color, diminishes wrinkles, and shrinks pore size.

Candidates for the TCA Obagi Blue Peel

The ideal candidate is in good physical condition and has realistic expectations of what can be achieved with TCA Obagi Blue Peel treatments. Those patients with skin damage due to wrinkling, creases, blemishes, brown spots, acne scars or sun damage are good candidates. TCA Obagi Blue Peel treatments are effective in treating men and women of all ages, skin types, and color.

What to Expect

The TCA Obagi Blue Peel is an outpatient procedure done in our Johns Creek office. Because it is a medium-depth peel, a facial-numbing cream is applied. If  you are anxious about the procedure, a mild sedative may be prescribed.

Dr. Timani prepares a mixture of Obagi Blue Peel® and TCA immediately prior to its application to the skin. Depending upon the depth of penetration, one-to-four layers may be applied. You may experience a warm, stinging sensation around the treatment area for two-to-three minutes.  A cooling device is used to help reduce any discomfort as the products penetrate the dermal layer.

Aftercare and Recovery

After the treatment, you may experience mild discomfort and slight swelling for up to seven days. Over-the-counter pain medication or stronger medication can be used if necessary. Peeling will begin within three days and typically healing is complete within ten days. The blue tinge disappears after one-to-two days. New skin will be slightly pink and will gradually fade to normal over the next few weeks. Foundation is a good way to cover the fresh pink skin, and using sunscreen is a must.

Each patient is unique; therefore, results will vary.

Dr. Timani is a board-certified dermatologist who studies each product carefully.  She knows that this medium-grade peel is effective and works great with all skin types.  If you are ready to get a peel and see the difference it can make, call Johns Creek Dermatology.  Our office is conveniently located to serve patients throughout North Fulton County including Roswell, Cumming, Milton, and Alpharetta, GA.
